"What wine do sommeliers like to recommend? Their own! Carsten Migliarina has forsaken a life of watching others drink in order to make his own delicious and elegant shiraz, much of which he does, of course, drink himself. And very right and proper too - if I could make wine as tasty and more-ish as this, that is certainly what I would be doing as well so we must grab our share while we can - dark brooding black fruits and a creamy vanilla finish."

ROZENDAL FARM

Rozendal Farm comprises of 6ha of old vines, 4ha of pastures, 2ha of gardens and living space and 13ha of forest and fynbos. The farm is situated in the Jonkershoek Valley on the border of Stellenbosch, at the foot of the Jonkershoek Mountains.

Since 1994 Rozendal is managed biologically (bio+logical = biological) with an environmental and health conscious approach, which ensures clean air and pure water. In May 2001 we switched to Bio dynamic farming methods and have become members of the Bio dynamic Agricultural Association.

We have a mixed farming operation including vegetables and animals (dairy cows and horses).  All life is encouraged.

 
Our philosophy of food and health has culminated in these unique products:
 

Rozendal Mixed Vinegar

This vinegar is macerated with green tea, chili, carob, lavender, sweet pepper and kelp. Use as an aperitif or mix with water for a refreshing quencher.

Rozendal Lavender Vinegar

This vinegar is infused with lavender grown on our farm. Try a vinegar reduction: heat a large saucepan and allow simmering until caramelised.

Rozendal Fynbos Vinegar

This vinegar is macerated with herbs from South Africa´s unique Cape Floral Kingdom - buchu, wild rosemary, wild olive and rose geranium. Fynbos herbs chosen to reflect the rich bio diversity of the Cape Biome and for it´s medicinal properties.

     

ESTATE ORGANIC HONEY

Our friend, beekeeper Filip Edroth has sent out his 30000 bees to collect the best of our ekological farmland produce and at the same time have them to do some good for the floral reproduction in the fields.

Ad. Tomas Dahlgren, Bror Duktig Design made the lovely label.

KAROO VIRGIN - ESTATE EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Estate means that this is our own production where we control everything from growing the fruit, hand picking, pressing, canning to distribution.

The KAROO VIRGIN will initially be available in tin cans of 1 litres. Varieties: Coratina, Favolosa, Frantoio, Leccino

First oil will be the Favolosa available from August 2008, very green, quite peppery - the chefs favourite!

Note: Not all oils will initially be organic.

     

MINERALWATER FROM SOUTH AFRICA:

To accompany our fine wines, and at the request of our chef, Jeffery Scott Brown, we found this premium brand mineral water from Karoo.

Since a couple of years our Cape Karoo mineral water is bottled at source from Paarl, Paardeberg Mountains. Quality from this new source and the packaging is supreme and we are very glad to have achieved to be a world wide recognized premium water brand.

note: It can be argued that water should not be freighted over the world, and we can agree to this. In this case we made an exception as our main objective of the Three Lily Buds venue is to present a as complete picture of South Africa as possible.

 

 
   
  SOUTH AFRICAN FINE FURNITURE  
   

EXCLUSIVE OAK BARREL VINWOOD FURNITURE:

handcrafted from wine-soaked French oak in a wide choice of contemporary designs from Stellenbosch.

We strongly advise anyone interested in Vinwood's Reserve Range not to delay ordering, as the KWV Cathedral cellar 12000 litre barrels used for this furniture are a limited resource. TLB has three Syrah Reserve tables on display, each that will become collector's items once all casks been used. Dimensions can be ordered within production limits determined by the oak wood staves.
